Sargun Mehta, the popular diva, is a known name in the television industry. The actress is also a popular star in the Punjabi aka Pollywood film industry. However, did you know when she actually thought of being a part of Pollywood, she was told that she can’t get the role of female lead?
As per reports in Times Of India, in one of her interviews, Sargun Mehta opened about her initial days in Pollywood. She had a chance to extend her television contract or follow her heart and work in Pollywood. She chose the latter and asked her manager to get in touch with the people casting actors for Punjabi movies.
Later, her manager took her to a production house, where the person in charge asked Sargun does she wish to play heroine? She said yes. He asked who she wishes to work with, and she named Diljit Dosanjh, Gippy Grewal, Amrinder Gill, and Jimmy Sheirgill. That’s when she was told that she can’t work as the lead heroine.
Sargun was disheartened but didn’t lose hope. After some days her manager called and she was offered the role of lead’s friend, which she rejected. She even told her manager that if he doesn’t have faith in her, how other people will show any confidence. Thereafter, she didn’t ask anyone for work, only kept her faith in the almighty. A few days later, she was called by Amberdeep Singh, who offered her the role in ‘Angrej’ opposite Amrinder Gill.
