Back in 2014, when Zoya Akhtar appeared in the popular Koffee With Karan show, she revealed how she and Kareena Kapoor fought over Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge at a party, and Bebo told her that she will never become a director. However, the Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara director also stated that, they are in good terms and she has always liked Kareena for her work, but the argument episode has been one of the bizarre incidents in her life.

Bebo had questioned the director of Zoya if she enjoyed DDLJ, upon which she responded that she liked. She then wondered whether she intended to “run behind a train”? Zoya Akhtar had nodded with a ‘no,’ and Kareena probed whether DDLJ was her favorite movie. Zoya said that, while she admired the film, it was not her fave. Soon after this, Kareena and Zoya got into a heated argument, and it was Shah Rukh Khan who had to intervene and stop the fight.

Then is when Kareena Kapoor told Zoya, “If you don’t think Dilwale (DDLJ) is the best film ever made then you won’t be a director.” As quoted by Hindustan Times.
