He is coming from a family having a musical background. His grandfather Sardar Malik, father Daboo Malik, and brother Armaan Malik are a well-known name in the industry. Being nephew of music composer and singer Anu Malik, Amaal Malik started learning music at the age of 8 when he developed liking towards the piano.

The year 2014 witnessed his debut when he composed 3 songs for Salman Khan’s ‘Jai Ho’ movie.
Later he composed the song ‘Naina’ for the movie Khoobsurat. Being formally educated in piano, he has completed his course study in western classical, Jazz and Rock at Trinity College of Music. He is also trained in Indian classical music informally by his grandfather.

To assist music composer and background scorer Amar Mohali, he joined him to begin his career’s journey after completing his 10th grade at the age of 15. He has also collaborated with Indian Pop godfather, Daler Mehndi, working on his remix track of ‘Mere Desh Ki Dharti’.

From the year 2008 to 2011, Amaal assisted Pritam, the music composer and Salim- Sulaiman on their various film albums that include Saheb, Rowdy Rathore, Heroine, Youngistan, etc.
His solo background scorer was for ‘Khwaab’, a sports film that scored good reviews for him.
He debuted as a music composer in 2014, composing 3 songs for Salman Khan films ‘Jai Ho’ and in 2015, he composed two songs for movie ‘Roy’.

The list of his composition for the various film is quite long.

In 2016 he was twice nominated for Filmfare Award for a Best music Director for his compositions in movie ‘Kapoor and sons’ and ‘Baaghi’.

In 2017, his song for ‘Badrinath ki Dulhania’ won him a nomination for Filmfare Award for Best music director. In this year he composed songs for the film ‘Noor’ and sang a song with Tulsi Kumar.

Many of his compositions are sung by his younger brother Armaan Malik which won him Filmfare Best Male Playback singer award.

In 2018, he composed two singles ‘Ghar Se Nikalte Hi’ and ‘Ready to Move’ which were sung by his younger brother. He also composed a song for film ‘Sonu ki Titu ki Sweety’.

In 2019 till date, Amaal has composed 2 songs ‘Kyun Rabba’ and ‘Tum Na Aaye’ for the movie Badla.
With all his works to the credit, he has become the youngest composer to compose for Mr. Amitabh Bachchan.

He is also judging an Indian reality singing show, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs. His famous numbers in the movie ‘De De Pyar De’ – ‘Chale Aana’ and superhit movie ‘Kabir Singh’- ‘ Yeh Aaina’ are topping the music charts.
