More often than not, Kpop is looked at with rose-tinted glasses, Beneath all the glamour, it is quite a tough industry and idols go through quite a bit of struggle before they can debut. Most trainees even end up leaving their dreams behind and never debut.

BIGBANG is one of the popular and influential K-pop groups. They made their debut back in 2006 under the label YG Entertainment. This group hit quite a few obstacles even 4 years after their debut. BIGBANG’s member, T.O.P is one of the idols who has been quite vocal about the industry.

In an interview as per a Koreaboo report, T.O.P spoke about all the hardships he had to face and the future of BIGBANG as well as the impact of art. Another topic he talked of was the issues in the Kpop industry, which many are speculating to be the reason the idol left YG Entertainment some time ago.

He explained that the Kpop system needs a closer examination. He did however admit that he had been lucky since he was a trainee only for a year.

He said, “I myself am fortunate that I only spent less than a year as a trainee before I debuted, a relatively short time. But after, I saw all the trainees, the boys and girls, they’re under a very harsh system.”

He seemed most critical about the system idols have to go through.

“They’re told what to do and trained just like robots. They might get popular, they might get bigger, but in their heart and in ways we can’t see, they’re being isolated, and feel lonely inside,” he adds.

He finished the thought by saying that he wanted to do something about it. While he didn’t confirm any future plans about a comeback, he did state that he wanted to start a record label and bring a change in how things are done. He claimed he didn’t want to be a ‘robot maker’. Let us know in the comments below!

He revealed, “I want to make a real artist and help real artists. I’m positive about making a group that’s completely different from BIGBANG in the future.”
