Krishnakumar Kunnath, better known as KK, was an Indian playback singer. He created music in various languages. KK made his Bollywood debut with the wildly popular song “Tadap Tadap Ke Is Dil Se” from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. The youth of the 1990s was mesmerized by the voice of KK, one of history’s finest vocalists. Because of KK, we were able to maintain our composure, and some of our best songs were delivered in his occasionally calming, occasionally resonant voice.

So here are some of the finest songs of KK which might make you shed a tear or two.

  1. Pal – At a period when Bollywood was releasing exciting compositions from composers like AR Rahman, KK garnered broad recognition with Pal, one of the best pop debut albums of the decade. The song, which had a guitar riff in the background, served as the soundtrack for a generation’s formative years.
  2. Yaaron Dosti – The song, Yaaron Dosti, made me think of Yeh Dosti from the Sholay movie. Only this was calm and took place in a modern setting. But what makes it distinct is how it portrayed friendship and its characteristics.
  3. Tadap Tadap Ke – Tadap Tadap Ke became a famous song in the history of Hindi film music. Even among the many wonderful songs in the film, Tadap will stick in people’s minds for its misery, KK’s fluctuating voice, and the pain of unfulfilled love.
  4. Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai – KK transformed the Pritam song Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai into a stunning example of the time by using a range of contemporary instruments. It spent a lot of time at the top of the charts and had lots of radio play. Sayyed Qadri’s words improved the song’s charm.
  5. Alvida – Rock ballad Alvida has a mellow beginning, builds to a crescendo, and switches scales as it does so. The song is a gem from an outstanding album. A singer cannot be said to have had any musical instruction. One of the finest pieces by KK.
  6. O Meri Jaan – O Meri Jaan, a beautiful ballad from the Pritam and KK label, is one of KK’s best songs and showcases the power and compassion of his effortlessly superb voice.
  7. Khuda Jaane – This Vishal-Shekhar song, Khuda Jaane, featured amazing melodic variations. KK’s voice was really the best when he sang this tease-inducingly passionate duet with Shilpa Rao.
  8. Aankhon Mein Teri – The Vishal-Shekhar song Aankhon Mein Teri, performed by KK in Om Shanti Om, had a profound emotional impact.
