Lata Mangeshkar is an incredible artist of Bollywood. Is being respected greatly by a large number of people and has a massive fan following across the globe. Lata Ji is regarded for her incredible songs, artistic performances and her dedication to her field. Today in this extract we shall learn some singing lessons from Lata Mangeshkar.

It’s the principal music, the backdrop record, the sound and music of our existences. The Hindi movie music has existed as a part of our presence, supposedly eternally. But you can put a period to it: 85 years ago, in 1935, the initial playback music was documented, for Nitin Bose’s Dhoop Chhaon, by song managers RC Boral and Pankaj Mullick.

Previously to that, performers vocalized their music, on set, and the composers played and performed on set too — often camouflaged behind trees and other struts! But not every celebrity could vocalize, and in his edition, “Behind the Curtain: Making Music in Mumbai’s Film Studios”, Auckland University lecturer of ethnomusicology Gregory D Booth refers to a message scripted in 1940 to a movie journal, exhorting Ashok Kumar to request “stop singing in pictures”.

Playback descant seized the time to resolve in, but 1947 was something of a swiveling juncture. India’s supreme distinguished singing celebrity KL Saigal expired earlier that year, and the beautiful and famous female singing star Noorjehan moved to the recently carved-out Pakistan, vacating behind an enormous void. That void was replenished by two vocalists who advanced to evolve playback artists: Lata Mangeshkar and Mohammed Rafi.
