Many of us might be familiar with the beautiful performance of Afreen Afreen on Coke Studios performed by the legendary singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Momina Mustehsan. The song was an instant hit among millions for its magical lyrics and ofcourse, the soul stirring voice of Khan himself.

Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan began his musical journey at the tender age of 5. Coming from a long line of musical family, including his uncle the late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan who took him under his wings and taught him all about classical and Sufi spiritual music.

It was at the age of 10, that Khan gave his first solo performance at a prestigious festival which earned him praise and gave him the much needed confidence to get started on his musical journey. By 15 years of age, the singer accompanied his uncle on concerts which further helped him grow as an artist.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is famously known for his Qawwalis and ghazals. With his powerful voice, the singer easily evokes devotion in those of the unbelievers too.

The singer made his Bollywood debut in 2003 for the movie Paap with the song “Mann Ki Lagan”.

Apart from touring and performing overseas to thousands of fans, Khan has also worked with Eddie Vedder, of the American rock band, Pearl Jam. He also got the chance to collaborate for Hollywood movie soudtracks on Dead Man Walking, The Four Feathers and Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto.

This hugely successful singer has more than 50 albums to his name and over a hundred song credits in both Hollywood and Bollywood.
