Born in Jiaganj, Murshidabad, West Bengal, to a Punjabi father and a Bengali mother, Arijit Singh is an Indian playback vocalist and music producer. He also picked up musical skills from his mother, who plays the tabla and sings. He attended Sripat Singh College, a school affiliated with the University of Kalyani, and Raja Bijay Singh High School for his academics. Rajendra Prasad Hazari instructed him in Indian classical music, Dhirendra Prasad coached him in tabla, and Birendra Prasad taught him Rabindra Sangeet and popular music. Following his participation in the reality competition Fame Gurukul (2005), where he finished last, his career took off. Following his victory on 10 Ke 10 Le Gaye Dil, Singh constructed his own recording studio and started his career in music production. He then moved on to work as Pritam Chakraborty’s, Shankar-Ehsaan- Loy’s, Vishal- Shekhar’s, and Mithoon’s assistant music programmer.
