Raja Kumari, an Indian-American rapper, and songwriter has released a new EP called HBIC, marking her seventh year in the industry since founding her Godmother Records label.

The publication of this EP seems like a fresh beginning for me. I’m pleased to share work that is themed on things that have inspired me. Sincerity in the art can only come from being fearless, and that’s the objective – eliminating inhibitions with every song and being one with the art.

The album’s opening tune, a dreamy R&B song called “Manifest,” tells the story of how Raja was able to live the American dream, find success in music, and bring hip-hop back to her native India. Being the Desi Queen makes her happy. The song has a spiritual feel thanks to sampled flutes and strings, and Raja is portrayed accurately as an Indian Rap deity in the purple one-take song visualizer.

The famous Indian actress and producer Madhuri Dixit Nene is featured in the super-catchy Bollywood R&B dance number “Made in India.” The stunning ladies boldly proclaim, “All over the world, no matter where I’m from, they gon’ know I’m made in India.”

With a crisp, lyrical flow on the upbeat Trap rhythm of “HBIC,” Raja looks very fly while claiming her title: “Who be creating the noise/Running ’em boys/Give ’em no choice.”

Raja Kumari has once again produced a quality album. With her alluring appearance, indisputable talent, five upbeat songs, and equally gorgeous music videos, Raja Kumari has shown that she is the total package. Without a doubt, she is the head goddess of Desi hip hop.
