Steeped in a family tradition of music as the sons of composer and veteran of the film industry Sadruddin Merchant, Salim mastered the piano on at the Trinity College of Music in London while Sulaiman took up tabla training with such legends as Taufiq Qureshi and Ustad Zakir Hussain.

Salim and Sulaiman have been composing music for over a decade having scored for movies such as Neal ‘n’ Nikki, Chak De! India, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Fashion. They were predominantly composing background scores for movies, until the Karan Johar Kaal, for which their song compositions received acclaim.

Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai: This heart-touching song is from the super hit film ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.’ For this beautiful love song, Salim-Sulaiman won appreciation and accolades. The musical Jodi crafted a heart-warming and emotional number, which easily connected with the music lovers. Roop Kumar Rathod vocals added magic into the song, making it more likeable.

Maula Mere Le Le Meri Jaan: This song is from the sport-spirited film ‘Chak De India.’ The track has emotions of pain, struggle, and resentment. The song features SRK who had a gloomy past, and he feels the emotions and asks the Almighty to give peace and solace. Salim-Sulaiman created the finest composition in this film and the music of the film is apt to the core of the movie plot.
