Hirdesh Singh, known by his stage name Yo Yo Honey Singh, rose to prominence with his rapping skills and became one of the highest paid singer/rapper in Tinsel Town. He is credited for giving rapping a true sense of belonging in Bollywood and for making everyone recognise those beats and rapping stanzas even between the famous Hindi songs.

A student of music from Trinity College, his song Lungi Dance, from the movie Chennai Express, earned him fame and popularity in no time. This music sensation became an instant hit amongst the teens and the youngsters with his YouTube videos and catchy songs.

However, the audience had a love-hate relationship with him. Some addresses his songs as offensive, misogynist and vulgar while number of his fans find his style trendy and very upbeat. None the less, he has made it in the industry on his own and in no time.

Where did he disappear? He went off track for a period of 18 months and didn’t appear on the media. Some said he had phased out while some argued that he was in a rehab. Honey Singh later clarified that he was at his house in Noida battling Bipolar disorder, along with admitting that he was an alcoholic too. He changed four doctors and the medications weren’t working fine.

Despite his dark past, he came back as a music director for the movie ‘Behen Hogi Teri.’
