Dilin Nair is an Indian music composer and rapper is better known by his stage name Raftaar. Raftaar is well known for is style. He was formerly a member of the urban music group, which was formed by Yo Yo Honey Singh. After leaving the group, he signed to perform on three records of the Punjabi band RDB. Raftar started his solo career. After the split with RDB In 2013, he releases mixtape finally managed to do so with his debut album Zero to infinity. The eight-track album is a little over 28 minutes with eight songs.
The line “Ab yeh karke dikhao” from his song “ Swag Mera desi” was to Mock YO YO Honey Singh. “Ab yeh karke dikhao” was already used in Yo YO Honey Singh song Party with Bhootnath which led to a dispute between the two rappers. Swag Mera desi won Best Urban Song at the Britasia Music Awards in 2014.
In an interview, he revealed the reason behind changing his name and said, “Being a rapper, you have to be good at improvising like you give me a word and I have to rhyme it quickly and then make sense out of the rhyme. That is why I changed my name to Raftaar”.
He has been award with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Award in 2018.
He is also a judge of first rap really show MTV Hustle. He is an idol of many young rappers of India. And like is the name he has a rise in Indian music schene and today in Bollywood industry Raftar is one of the best rappers in India.
