Sanjay Leela Bhansali, a composer who has also worked as a filmmaker, has revealed that his debut album, Sukoon, will be available for streaming on all platforms on December 7.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is expanding into the music industry. The director revealed on Monday that all music streaming services would begin to carry his original debut album, Sukoon, on December 7.

Guzaarish, a 2010 film project by the director, who earlier this year directed the Alia Bhatt-starring Gangubai Kathiawadi, switched from director to composer. Additionally, he wrote the music for all six of Gangubai Kathiawadi’s songs, including the well-known song Dholida.

Sanjay said in a statement that he spent two years writing “SUKOON” during the challenging times of Covid, during which time he discovered peace, quietness, and love. This was his first attempt at original music that wasn’t for a movie. While listening, I hope you experience the same.

Nine songs, including ones by Shreya Ghoshal, Armaan Malik, Papon, Pratibha Baghel, and Shail Hada, are included on the new album “Peace.” Guitars, sarangis, sitars, harmoniums, tablas, and flutes are just a few of the many musical instruments that Sanjay used to create the soundtrack.

Vikram Mehra, managing director of music label Saregama India, said of the upcoming album, “If perfection had a face, then it must be Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and once again it’s evident through his labor of love ‘SUKOON,’ collection of 9 pieces of art in collaboration with the best of the singers from the industry.”
