Sophie Ellis-Bextor, the singer of ‘Murder on the Dancefloor,’ has revealed that she was raped at the age of 17 by a 29-year-old guy. Following a chance meeting at a gig, Ellis-Bextor was invited inside the flat of her alleged assailant. At the time, the songwriter of ‘Take me home’ and ‘Wild forever’ was taking A-Level history.

According to femalefirst.co.uk, the man had promised to show her his study materials, but things quickly escalated. “Jim and I started kissing and before I knew it, we were on his bed and he was taking down my underwear,” Sophie Ellis-Bextor, now 42, claimed. It didn’t matter if I said ‘No’ or ‘I don’t want to,’ since it didn’t make a difference.

“He didn’t listen to me and had s*x with me, and I was embarrassed. It was the manner in which I lost my virginity, and it made me feel foolish. I remember staring at Jim’s bookcases and thinking, ‘All I have to do now is let this happen,'” Sophie Ellis-Bextor explained. He was never “aggressive” with her, according to the singer, but she now feels compelled to have her voice heard after 25 years.

“My encounter was not aggressive,” said Sophie Ellis-Bextor. I ‘wasn’t listened to,’ that’s all that happened. One person said yes, the other said no, and the person who said yes went ahead and did it anyhow. The older I’ve gotten, the more egregious that a 29-year-old man’s disregard for 17-year-old me has seemed.”
