41-year-old Sonu Kakkar is an Indian singer, songwriter, and television personality. She is the elder sister of popular singers Neha and Tony Kakkar. She was recently seen on the show ‘Indian Idol 12’ as a judge. Apart from shows, she has sung in many films of Bollywood and has even released her singles as well.

Sonu herself started her career with Reality shows. She had participated in a show called “Indian Pop Star” where her voice was discovered by Sandeep Chowta and she gets to sing the song ‘Babuji Zara Dheere Chalo’ which turned out to be a huge success and presented her instant recognition all over India.

Recently, reality shows are in the bad picture in the eyes of audiences. It all started after the appearance of Amit Kumar (Son of Kishore Kumar) on Indian Idol 12. He said after the show that she was asked to appreciate every contestant on the show. This created a spark among many. Even the Bollywood Music Industry was divided into two.

Sonu who herself started her career through reality shows of course sided with the reality show. She says this is the only platform where new singers can get an opportunity and can make their future. Sonu recently gave an interview to Hindustan Times and said “Help bahut hoti hai to take the first step. At least people listen to you. I know how difficult it is to come from a small town and make a name for yourself. Without a platform, it would not have been possible for me. Reality shows are the perfect platform to boost one’s career and the only way new singers can get work.”
