Arijit started singing in the year 2005 at the age of 18 in the Singing Reality Show “Fame Gurukul” which he did not win despite being praised. Later he was featured in another reality show “10 Ke 10 Le Gaye Dil” which was the face of contestants of “Fame Gurukul” and ‘Indian Idol”. Arijit won the show and set up his studio with the winning prize money. However, still, he did not get the recognition.

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali noticed him and he got the chance to sing the song Yun Shabnami from the movie Sawariya but this even didn’t work out. Following this, he was signed by Ramesh Taurani for an album which did not release.

Arijit then got shifted to Mumbai in 2006. In Mumbai he began his career in the music industry with his song Phir Mohabbat from “Murder 2”. This was praised by the audience. Later his song Tum Hi Ho from “Aashiqui 2” gained wider fame. And continued to give big hits like Phir Bhi Tumko Chahunga, Pal, Khairiyat, Naina, Ilahi, and others. Now he is known as a romantic heartbreak singer in the industry.
