Popular Bollywood playback singer Neha Kakkar shocked fans on Monday by announcing an indefinite hiatus from her career and personal life through a series of Instagram stories that were quickly deleted.
“Time to take a break from Responsibilities, Relationships, Work and Everything I can think of right now,” Kakkar wrote in the now-deleted post. “Not sure if I’ll be back or not. Thank you.”
The 35-year-old singer, known for hits like “Dilbar” and “Aankh Maarey,” also requested privacy from media and fans, writing, “No Cameras Plz… This is the least you all can give me for my peace.”
Although Kakkar did not mention certain reasons, the announcement comes after a series of tough months for her. The release of her single “Candy Shop” in December 2025, which was a collaboration with her brother Tony Kakkar, received harsh criticism for its lyrics and choreography, among other things. The critics called the Kakkar siblings’ actions’ K-pop aesthetics,’ which triggered widespread trolling on social media.

The singer also faced public scorn when she showed up three hours late for a concert in Melbourne at the end of 2025 and was said to be crying on stage. Besides this, she went through family issues when her sister Sonu Kakkar supposedly shared a message that later got deleted—indicating she was not in contact with Neha and Tony because of “deep emotional pain.”
This is not the first time Kakkar has taken a break for her mental health. According to industry insiders, she has already withdrawn from the public eye to address online negativity and personal pressures.
Soon after Kakkar’s posts, fans and admirers flooded her with love and support.
