The Indie music scene in India is at the cusp of a revolution. The last decade has been especially good for the Indian music scene. The success of online platforms such as TikTok and YouTube in India has seen many new and unknown singer-musicians make it big on their own steam and talent, first in the online space and then in Bollywood. When you ponder over this new age phenomenon, two names instantly come to mind, Neha Kakkar and Jonita Gandhi. Both are musicians in their own right, and currently, both are seeing unqualified success in Bollywood playback singing.

Neha broke into the music scene with her first indie album, Neha -The Rock Star. Since then, she has worked on two more music albums, Hanju, with singer Meiyang Chang, and Patt Lainge, with singer Gippy Grewal. She has also sung hit numbers in Bollywood, such as “Sunny Sunny” from Yaariyan, “Manali Trance” from The Shaukeens, “Aao Raja” with singer Yo Yo Honey Singh from Gabbar is Back, “Dhating Naach” from Phata Poster Nikala Hero, “London Thumakda” from Queen, “Dilbar” from Satyameva Jayate, and many more. Her unconventional voice gives her an edge in taking up peppy numbers. Jonita Gandhi is a relative newcomer in the music industry. She became a singing and music sensation when the maestro himself, that is A R Rahman, discovered her on her YouTube channel. Jonita sings in a variety of languages including English, French, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Kannada and Malayalam. She has sung chartbusters like Break up Song from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Dil Ka Telephone from Dream Girl, Allah Dubai Hai from Race 3, Gilehriyaan from Dangal and many more.

Who do you think is the Queen of Melody – Neha Kakkar or Jonita Gandhi?
