Enrique’s release schedule expanded along with the complexity of music distribution, with various areas seeing dramatically varying degrees of success. It may have been expected that this electro ballad would perform well in Europe given Nicole Scherzinger’s post-Pussycat Dolls career’s popularity there. “Heartbeat” was also well-liked in the colonies to the south, where it achieved double-platinum status. This is undoubtedly one of Enrique’s most sensuous songs in a sufficiently sensual discography!

Throughout his career, Enrique has seamlessly transitioned between English and Spanish songs, but this Latin mega-hit from 2017 actually spanned the gap and made ripples practically everywhere. Zion & Lennox from Puerto Rico, Descemer Bueno from Cuba, and Matt Terry, a 2016 The X Factor winner from the United Kingdom, were all featured on the original, and Sean Paul and Matt Terry were also included in a remix. Although the latter’s involvement may have served as a safety net to ensure Enrique’s return to UK Top 10 for the first time in three years, this incredible song, supported by a video shot in Cuba, required little help to become another smash.
Be With You
It’s incredible to imagine that in 2000, this US chart-topper was unable to even obtain a UK single release. The smash writing duo behind “Bailamos” produced “Be With You,” under Brian Rawling’s direction, using his signature pop-club tricks. The song was co-written by Enrique as well, marking the first time one of his co-compositions in English has been selected for single release. It enabled Enrique, the parent album, to sell over a million copies in the US.
