Meet the love of Amaal Mallik’s life, his Iron Lady!

Did you know that the wife of Bollywood music composer Sardar Mallik, patriarch of the Mallik clan, father to Annu and Daboo, was the sister of venerable poet and legendary lyricist, Hasrat Jaipuri? Well, we didn’t know it either!

Which is why we are simply loving this post that prolific music composer-singer Amaal Mallik shared on his Instagram account this afternoon!

Also, FYI, the lady in question, matriarch of the musical Mallik clan, is called Bilquees Malik, in case if you, like us, didn’t know this fact.

The grandson of Sardar Mallik, son of Daboo Mallik and nephew of Annu Mallik, took to his Instagram to declare his love and respect for his Daadi, Sardar Mallik’s wife, along with sharing priceless nuggets of info on the grand old lady. He even went ahead to call her the Iron Lady and Legend Woman.

The legendary wife of the legendary #SardarMalik , the sister of the most prolific and heartfelt poet #HasratJaipuri ?⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ #BilqueesMalik ❤️⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ But Who is she ?⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Originally from Jaipur, this young lady got married at a very young age to this mad, emotional, merciful film composer and settled in Mumbai during 1955.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ When the film industry turned its back on this family during the 1960’s she literally banned music in her house, and made a rule : Any one who touches the harmonium or even thinks about music will be banished.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ She literally fought wars, first alongside her husband & then alongside her children, to educate them, make their lives, careers and put food on their table WITHOUT THE SUPPORT OF MUSIC. ⁣⁣ She had 3 kids, successful & musical in their own right.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ She has spent most of the last 10 years with her youngest baby @daboomalik before going back to her home, where she has memories of a life with her husband #SardarMalik ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Now she says “Teri Dadi Buddi Ho Gayi Hain, Ab Sirf aaraam karna hain aur tum dono se bas milte rehna hain….”⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I asked aisa kyu ?⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ She said “Beta mujhe sirf tum dono ki safalta dekhni thi, dekh li, shaadi bhi dekhni hain, but woh toh tu jaldi karne se raha.”⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ & she started laughing.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ This picture is from yesterday when I hugged her and said “Abhi Toh Bohot Safalta dekhni baaki hain.”⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ But she insists she doesn’t need anything.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ She wants to make aloo parathas and halwa and celebrate every day, as her 3rd generation has made it on their own & are successful in taking the music legacy of her husband forward ??⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ #LegendWoman #IronLady

Amaal Mallik is the third generation of the Mallik clan to have made a substantial mark in the realm of music and Bollywood, after grandfather, Sardar Mallik; Uncle, Annu Mallik; and Dad, Daboo Mallik. His younger brother Armaan Malik too has made it big as a playback singer in Bollywood, on the back of his velvety smooth voice.
