Since winning the first Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) have struggled to find success. RR has been able to hold the prized trophy in patches over the years, but they have not been able to hold it again. However, a revitalized Royals club has made a statement of purpose for IPL 2022. RR is among the favorites to make the playoffs, sitting second in the points table with six victories from eight games.

A large portion of their success may be attributed to their efforts at the player auction table in February. With a core of Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Royals have added wings with the additions of Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Shimron Hetmyer.

According to speculation, the Rajasthan Royals might go the distance in the IPL 2022 and win the trophy for the 14th time. Here are three reasons why the Royals, if they make it to the final, can win:

1. Jos Buttler’s form

Jos Buttler has been dominant at the top of the order this season, amassing 499 runs in eight games and three centuries. The Englishman has already helped RR win multiple IPL 2022 games while dismissing bowlers.

2. Royals’ bowling unit

Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna will bowl the first two overs, followed by Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin in the middle overs. A very difficult bowling unit for opposing hitters to deal with. So far in IPL 2022, the Royals have had very little success with the coin toss, with skipper Sanju Samson losing seven of his eight coin tosses. However, each of RR’s victories has come while defending totals, and the fact that a number of them occurred despite the lack of a substantial score to play with puts their relentless bowling unit into perspective.

3. Sanju Samson’s calming influence

Sanju Samson has a lengthy history with the Rajasthan Royals, having appeared in over 100 games for the team. Last season, he took over as captain, but the Royals ended eighth with only five victories.
