The Jammu and Kashmir cricket team has created history in Indian cricket by clinching their maiden Ranji Trophy title. The team’s victory has marked as a monumental moment in domestic cricket. Jammu and Kashmir defeated the eight-time champions Karnataka on Saturday, February 28, at the KSCA Stadium in Hubli.

It wasn’t just a historic final but a historic season that saw sheer grit and determination, where Jammu and Kashmir outplayed favorite teams and others, showcasing their true strength and proving that strategy can win over legacy.

Jammu and Kashmir team delivered a sensational performance throughout the tournament, showcasing grit, discipline, and fearless cricket against some of the most seasoned sides in the competition.

Also, the final today ended in a draw, but Jammu and Kashmir’s 291-run first innings helped them secure the Champions Trophy. And they ended the second innings at 342/4. Amid high pressure, the team proved themselves, with opener Qamran Iqbal scoring 160 and Sahil Lotra making 101, both not out. Other players like Yawer Hassan, Abdul Samad, and Kanhaiya Wadhawan contributed half-centuries.

This is the first time Jammu and Kashmir has won the Ranji Trophy Title after making their debut in India’s premier domestic league 67 years ago, and they reached the quarter-finals in 2013-14, 2019-20, and 2024-25.
