The Ranji Trophy tournament is one of the most intense and reputed tournaments that we have in the country when it comes to testing someone’s skills to play in the International arena. Every year, the Indian cricket team gets blessed with some fantastic talent courtesy of the tournament and it’s because of that we have had some fine players representing the squad. After a delayed start to the Ranji Trophy tournament due to Covid-19 case rise, we are now in the final stage where the final game is taking place between Mumbai and Madhya Pradesh.

Sarfaraz Khan hit a fantastic century and he was seen getting emotional after the brilliant knock. Take a look at the video below –

On the other hand, the absence of DRS in the final game has received a lot of criticism for BCCI as many feel that Sarfaraz’s ton was possible because he survived a lucky LBW. A former Indian player was quoted by Times Of India saying,

“We believe in our umpires,” is how a BCCI official put it. “It’s an expensive exercise to use the DRS. The costs shoot up. How does it matter if there’s no DRS in the final. It’s time we trusted the umpires. India’s two best umpires (KN Ananthapadmanabhan and Virender Sharma) are officiating in this game. And what’s the end result? If you use it in the final, you will want to introduce it in the league stage of the Ranji Trophy too.”

According to a report in TOI, the cost factor appears to be an excuse since BCCI just made a Rs 48, 390 crore telecast deal for the next five years of IPL.
