For the unversed, he had announced in the month of December 2022 that he was stepping away from his role with the Italian National Federation for health reasons. He was constantly in touch with oncologists. For the unversed, he had also struggled with cancer for many years and revealed that he was treated for the first time in 2018. He was 58 when he breathed his last. Last year, he had announced that the disease had returned.
