T20 World Cup 2026 is gearing up for good. India and Pakistan have been placed in the same group and will face a massive showdown in Colombo on February 15, the ICC announced on Tuesday. India is to join Pakistan in Group A, given that Sri Lanka shall host the tournament. According to a Hindustan Times report, the event will follow the 2024 format. The showdown is scheduled for March 8 and will take place in Ahmedabad.

Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Harmanpreet Kaur are present at the event. The announcement further outlined the dates and venues for the 20-team event, scheduled for early February to early March and to be played in India and Sri Lanka. The 2024 victory in the USA and the West Indies broke India’s trophy drought, and they will be the defending champions at the slated competition.

The event will also take place in the same format as before, as mentioned above: 20 teams divided into four groups of five, followed by a Super Eight phase leading to semi-finals and a final match. The other participants are Nepal, Oman, the UAE, and Italy, which are also considered the rising teams, and are going to get the chance to play along with the top teams like India, Pakistan, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, West Indies, and Bangladesh.
