Neeraj Chopra Should Get Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award This Year, What Are Your Views?

Does Neeraj Chopra deserve a Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna?

Ex India football skipper Bhaichung Bhutia, a member of the National Sports Committee, stated on Tuesday that gold medalist Neeraj Chopra of the Tokyo Olympics deserves the Khel Ratna Award this year.

After throwing the javelin for a range of 87.58 metres, Neeraj Chopra earned India’s first gold medal in athletics.

“This time the advisory board will have to face adversity because there are numerous players who are befitting of awards,” Bhutia said to ANI. “Not this time, every time the election committee faces challenges, but this time the task will be harder because we have a lot of medallists, and in my opinion, the Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award will go to Tokyo Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra because he brought India its first gold in track and field events at the Tokyo Olympics.” (ANI)

Bhutia said at SAI’s 55th governing body meeting “It was an excellent meeting, and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur is well-versed in sports. The meeting was quite fruitful. We discussed a number of topics during the meeting, including how to develop a sports culture in the country and how to develop more coaches at the grassroots level. We also discussed the importance of looking after and managing our grounds, rather than stadiums, because grounds produce many athletes, and the need to appoint more officers responsible for scouting talent from remote areas of the country.”

When asked about Indian football, Bhutia responded, “Long-term planning is required. We haven’t been able to perform properly lately; it will take time.”

Anurag Thakur, the Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports stated on Tuesday that the Sports Authority of India’s (SAI) sports science and performance management systems will be reformed. The judgment was made in order for the nation to perform even better in the Olympics.

“I’m happy to announce the restructuring of sports science and performance management systems in SAI towards better results in the Olympics. Over 300 sports science specialists and high-performance coaches, analysts, and other personnel to be hired towards targeted results,” tweeted Thakur. As per The Times Of India.
