According to a 2016 Quint story, the former India captain was paid Rs 45 crore for the film rights to his life. Access to personal information, papers, and photographs was also offered. Dhoni’s availability was also necessary for marketing and promotion of the film, which contributed to the large sum.
Interestingly, despite his outstanding performance, MS Dhoni once chastised the late actor for asking too many questions.
