Over the years, the PKL has witnessed several Kabaddi legends. One of these players, Pardeep Narwal, is renowned in the Kabaddi community as the “Record Breaker.”

In an interview with GQ India Pardeep Narwal said: “I’ve been playing Kabaddi since I was a kid, and fitness is an important component of the game since it requires a lot of physical and mental power. My coaches have always urged me to maintain a strict fitness and food plan throughout the year in order to maintain and continue to play Kabaddi to my best ability. We conduct a two-month camp session throughout the league to prepare for the season, with an emphasis on fitness and newer abilities and tactics. Kabaddi is a contact sport that is performed with a lot of intensity and force, therefore staying fit throughout the season is important.”

He continued saying: “The sport itself demands quick footwork, speed, agility, and a lot of strength – all of which are necessary for a raider or defense to succeed. As a Kabaddi player, I must consider all parts of my fitness, including strength, speed, and flexibility, but my agility, power, and mental alertness are areas where I focus. This game requires quick and intelligent reactions. I practice push-ups, belly crunches, and leg squats, to mention a few exercises, as part of my fitness routine.”

“My training program must help me develop physical strength and mental toughness. I don’t follow a strict program, but I do running, stretching, swimming, core strength training at the gym, and sprints on occasion to increase my stamina and strength. I adore cooking and eating, especially at home. But, for the essential physiological energy, I make sure I maintain a mix of proteins and carbs. My diet plan consists of a well-balanced diet with the occasional cheat day, but nothing beats returning home to my mother’s cooking”, He Said.
