Know the success story of PV Sindhu

PV Sindhu (Pusarla Venkata Sindhu) is a badminton player from India. In 2009, she made her worldwide debut. She reached a career-high rating of no. 2 in April 2017. She has medaled in a number of tournaments, including the Olympics and the BWF circuit; in 2019, she won gold in the World Championships. She is the first Indian woman to win an Olympic silver medal in badminton and is the current world champion. PV Sindhu broke into the top 20 of the BWF World Ranking in September 2012, at the age of 17. From 2013 to 2015, she competed in every world championship and won a medal.

She is the second woman after Zhang Ning to win five or more medals at the World Championships. She portrayed India in the 2016 Summer Olympics and became the first Indian player to reach the final. In the competition, she came in second place. P. V. Raman, her father, and P. Vijaya, her mother, were both national volleyball players. Her father was a member of the Indian volleyball team that won bronze at the 1986 Asian Games in Seoul, and he was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2000 for his service to the sport. She resides in Telangana’s Hyderabad. She attended Auxilium High School in Hyderabad and St. Ann’s College for Women in Hyderabad for her education. Despite the fact that her parents were professional volleyball players, she prefers badminton.

Pullela Gopichand, 2001 All England Open Badminton Champion, was an inspiration to her. She began playing badminton at the age of eight. She entered the world circuit when she was 14 years old. In Colombo, she earned a bronze medal at the 2009 Sub-Junior Asian Badminton Championships. At the Iran Fajr International Badminton Challenge, she took silver in the singles category. She reached the quarterfinals of the 2010 BWF global junior tournament in Mexico. She defeated Sun Yu to win the Thai hot China Open, becoming the second Indian player to do so after Saina Nehwal. She defeated Nozomi Okuhara in the final and won gold. She was the first Indian woman to win a gold medal at the Olympics. She was named BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year on March 8, 2020.
