Test match is a game of endurance and handling pressure. The team that does not do any of those things will surely end up losing. Then again, cricket is a game of unpredictability. Even a batsman or a bowler is having a composed and calm mind and doing his level best to perform well on the ground, some things will keep happening against you. Something like this happened with New Zealand as well on March 28 1995.

New Zealand played their first of two-match Test series against England. They won the toss and elected to bat first. They lost two early wickets with their scoreboard showing 13-2. The New Zealand middle order managed to set a targeting score of 200 runs in front of England. On the second day after England removed the last to surviving New Zealand batsmen, England began with their first inning of batting. New Zealand managed to stop them at 246 with England having a lead of 46 runs.

Though the score wasn’t difficult to take a lead on, New Zealand lost their two openers second time early in the same test. English bowlers dominated and overwhelmed the New Zealand batsmen and dismissed all the batsmen at merely 26 runs. It’s been 65 years since this incident happened and yet this score in an innings of a test match by New Zealand still remains the lowest total in an inning of a test match.
