A finisher’s job in cricket is to finish off things perfectly for the team by scoring as many runs possible in the last few overs. During the tour of Australia, India seemed to have found the perfect replacement of Dhoni for the role of a finisher and that is Hardik Pandya. However, even Australian finishers gave a hard time to Indian bowlers in the T20s, specifically Moses Henriques and Darcy Short who are both very explosive batsmen.

Between our Indian Jadeja-Pandya duo and the Aussie duo of Darcy Short and Henriques, the Indian duo seemed to be a solid one. Jadeja and Hardik played some great knocks for India in the ODIs as well as in the T20s. In the 3rd ODI, Jadeja contributed 66 crucial runs in 50 balls and supported Hardik Pandya who scored 92 of just 76 balls. Hardik has become a player who can manage to hit any type of delivery across the boundary ropes. He hits the balls with perfect timing and doesn’t restrict his power even a bit. Jadeja also keeps the run meter running and helps create a good partnership.

Henriques and Short are both great players especially in the T20 format but they still have a lot to learn and progress.
