Saina Nehwal is a professional badminton player from India. She was born on March 17, 1990. She has won 24 international titles, including ten Superseries crowns, as well as being a former world number one. She attained the world number two position in 2009, but it wasn’t until 2015 that she was able to surpass Prakash Padukone and become the only female player from India to do so. She has competed in three Olympics for India, winning a bronze medal in her second appearance at the 2012 London Olympics.

In badminton, Saina Nehwal has set various records for India. She is the first Indian to have medaled in every major individual event in the BWF.

Saina Nehwal won the Bronze medal at the London Olympics 2012. By far her bronze medal-winning performance at the London Summer Olympics remains the crown of her glorious career.

For nearly a decade, Saina Nehwal has been the brightest light in Indian badminton. The Hyderabad girl has shown flashes of her immense potential since her junior days, so it’s no wonder that her path to badminton stardom has been rapid and precipitous. Saina has been a permanent part of the world’s elite for some time, but last year she left the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy to team up with Vimal Kumar in Bangalore. Her devotion, hunger, and competitive spirit, however, have not changed as she continues to win awards. Saina Nehwal continues to put Indian badminton on the map as she prepares for the World Superseries Finals in Dubai at the end of the year.
