Rishabh Pant is the skipper of Delhi capitals in the IPL. The wicket-keeper batsman has been one of the best talents India has ever received. He represents India in all three formats and has played a number of match-winning games.

In this IPL season of 2022, the keeper-batsman has not been able to perform well with his bat. He has scored 260 runs, averaging 32.50 with a strike rate of 150.29. Pant’s highest score in this season is 44 and he is yet to score a half-century.

Ahead of the match, the former Pakistani fast bowler, Shoaib Akhtar has agreed that Pant has not lived up to his potential in the IPL 2022. He has also urged him to work on his fitness and the mental aspect of his game.

While speaking to SportsKeeda, Akhtar advised, “Rishabh Pant needs to work on his fitness. Also, he has to show better determination and focus harder. Cricketing careers have become very short with so many matches being played. It could be seven-eight or 10 years maximum.”

He also gave an example of Virat Kohli and said, “We saw Virat Kohli peak around 2013 and now see the kind of downfall that he has had. Pant is an extraordinary talent. He has some great opportunities. I advise him – ‘please don’t miss it.”

Pant then scored 26 off 16 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their preceding game in IPL 2022. He hit three sixes and a four in that game.
