From 2007 to 2017, Mahendra Singh Dhoni captained the Indian national cricket team in limited-overs forms, and from 2008 to 2014, he captained the side in Test cricket. He is now the captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), an Indian Premier League franchise side. Dhoni is widely regarded as India’s greatest captain, having won three ICC limited-overs tournaments as captain (the inaugural 2007 ICC World Twenty20, the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy) and leading the Indian cricket team to the top of the ICC test rankings in 2009. He has guided CSK to IPL victories in 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021, making him the second most successful IPL captain behind Rohit Sharma.

After the retirement of M.S. Dhoni, Rishabh Pant was handed over the duty of wicketkeeping for team India. Rishabh Pant is an explosive middle-order batsman & a great wicketkeeper. He was picked to India’s squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in December 2015. Pant hit the fastest 18-ball fifty at this level on February 1, 2016, at the event. In January 2017, he made his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut for India, followed by Test debuts in August and One Day International (ODI) debuts in October. Pant was named the ICC Emerging Player of the Year at the 2018 ICC Awards in January 2019. Pant was selected Men’s Player of the Month at the first edition of the ICC Player of the Month Awards in February 2021.

During the present India against Australia warm up match, former India captain and current team trainer Vijay Shankar was seen giving wicketkeeping suggestions to Rishabh Pant. The 40-year-old was spotted working closely with Pant, assisting him in honing his batting skills ahead of the T20 World Cup Super 12’s in 2021. Following the practice and exercises, the two were seen chatting and discussing a few things, with Dhoni appearing to explain to Pant how to keep against the spinners.
