Although Twitter provides the same basic messaging functions like most other social media platforms, direct messaging on the site is still far behind what Facebook Messenger, iMessage, Discord, and other competitors have to offer. Thankfully, a new feature is on the way that will get us closer to our goal: the option to pin DM chats.

Because Twitter direct messages are now ordered from most-recently-active to least-recently-active, locating someone (or a group DM) from your DMs list can take along. According to an article in The Verge, Twitter is currently rolling out a feature that allows you to pin up to six chats so that they always display above your other tweets. On the Android and iOS applications, you may access the new feature by sliding to the right of a discussion in the direct messages tab to show a pinned button. To pin a discussion on the web, mouse over it to see a three-dot menu, then select ‘Pin conversation.’

It’s unfortunate that Twitter only allows for six pins at a time, but at least something is better than nothing at all. The only Blue-specific features that remain are longer video uploads and NFT profile photos. Twitter Blue still retails at $2.99 each month in the United States.

During the previous several months, Twitter has also introduced a feature to enable Spaces on iOS and Android, a powerful search bar, “Quote Tweet with a response” on iOS.
