For actress Adrija Roy, chocolate is more than just a dessert. It is a feeling, a memory, and sometimes, the simplest way to turn an ordinary day into a special one. As the world celebrates World Chocolate Day on July 7, the actress opened up about her love for chocolates, childhood nostalgia, and the joy of sharing sweet moments with loved ones. “If I had to describe myself as a chocolate today, I would probably be a hazelnut chocolate. It has a little surprise in every bite, and I like to believe there are different layers to my personality, too. I can be calm, playful, emotional, and adventurous, depending on the moment,” Adrija shared with a smile.
The actress feels chocolate deserves to be celebrated rather than treated as an occasional indulgence. “We’ve made chocolate sound like a guilty pleasure for far too long. I think it deserves better than that. You don’t need a reason to enjoy a piece of chocolate. Sometimes, a small bite is enough to lift your mood or make a difficult day feel a little lighter.”
Asked if she could spend the rest of her life with just one chocolate brand, Adrija chose one that has stayed close to her heart over the years. “It would have to be Ferrero Rocher. It feels a little festive every single time you unwrap one. It reminds me that even the smallest treats can make everyday moments feel special.”
For the perfect movie marathon, her choice is equally simple. “A cosy blanket, a good film, and a box of chocolates. That, for me, is the perfect evening. Chocolate somehow makes every story on screen feel even more enjoyable.”
If given the chance to create a new World Chocolate Day tradition, Adrija already has an idea. “I would love to see people anonymously gift chocolates to someone. It could be a friend, a neighbour, a colleague, or even a stranger who looks like they need a reason to smile. We celebrate so many occasions with grand gestures, but sometimes a simple chocolate can say, ‘I’m thinking of you.'”
When asked who she would save her favourite chocolates for, the actress answered without hesitation. “I would share them with my family. They’ve been with me through every phase of my life, and the happiest memories I have usually involve sitting together, talking for hours, and sharing something sweet. Chocolate is always better when it comes with love.”
