After being away from television for nine years, Parichay Sharma has returned with Zee TV‘s Vasudha, a show that went straight to the top of the TRP charts. The role he plays is nothing like who he is in real life.

Parichay plays the role of Samar, a close friend of Dev, who has a lot going against the Chauhan family, especially Vasudha. Playing grey is something Parichay enjoys. He says, “I love playing it because there’s a lot to do with the character. Grey-shaded roles have a lot of scope for experiment.”

The character, however, is far from who he is. Talking about it, he states, “I don’t relate to it in real life because I have no ego. Life has taught me a lot. All these 9 years, I’ve seen a lot of ups and downs.”

Vasudha is one of the top-rated shows, which makes his comeback story complete. He says, “It is a wonderful feeling. After coming back, you get into one of the top shows. So I’m blessed. I’m thankful to the universe. I am happy that TV has accepted me with open arms.”

Parichay sees the industry differently now from when he left it. He says, “Now, there is no difference between TV, movies, and web series. A good actor is a good actor. It’s like playing all three cricket formats. Some players can play T20. Some can play Test or One Day. But there are a few actors and players who can play all three formats. Now, the lines are blurred. Earlier, when I left TV, there used to be a different zone altogether. He’s a TV actor; he’s a film actor; he’s an OTT actor – was what actors were labelled. But now, it’s good for the industry that actors are getting chances.”

If acting hadn’t worked out, Parichay knows exactly where he would have ended up. He says, “I would like to play cricket a lot. I wish I could have been a cricketer in another life or in a parallel universe. And the army fascinates me a lot. I have this love for the country in me. So, if not, then I would love to be in the army as well. Maybe in some other life.”
