Talented actress Hunar Gandhi plays a Bengali character for the first time in her career in Sony TV’s show Patiala Babes produced by Katha Kottage.

Hunar is happy to be in the space that she is, as the show is quite realistic in terms of story telling.

Says Hunar, “As an actor, I like to be in the real and natural zone. And I feel Patiala Babes is the right place to be in at the moment. The show gives rise to realistic situations and the ambience of the story line is so natural.”

“Yes, the drama quotient is there, but there are shows which fall into the high range of drama. But Patiala Babes gets into the realistic zone when it comes to drama. I am blessed to be here is what I will say again and again,” she adds.

Hunar explains that she looks forward to opportunities at work wherein there is scope for her versatility as an actor. “From day one, my priority has always been to not get blocked into one particular kind of image. Today, I am happy that I am different. There have been people asking me as to why I did not opt to play the waiting game and take something meatier. My answer to them is that when I have the confidence and faith in myself that I will stand out in the role offered, why do I need to wait? I am happy that my character is coming up nicely. Anyway it is too early to comment. The show has just started and it is for viewers to see and judge.”

On the ordeals faced while portraying a Bengali character, Hunar states, “I am not a Bengali and have never played one before. Yes, it has been difficult to get the diction and accent right, especially in the scene where there is scope for performance. I am trying to put in my best.”

Way to go, Hunar!!
