Zee TV’s Lakshmi Niwas actor Mansi Srivastava, currently seen playing the role of Revati Jaiswal, shares how the significance of Ganesh Chaturthi has evolved over the years, transforming from a simple family tradition into a deep, life-affirming bond.
Growing up in Chandigarh, festivals like Diwali, Holi, and Janmashtami were always grand affairs, while Ganesh Chaturthi was a much quieter observance. “Back then, Ganesh Chaturthi meant a day off from school, a simple puja at home, and a visit to the local temple. The concept of bringing Ganpati idols home or hosting large-scale visarjans wasn’t as common in North India at the time,” Mansi recalls. “It was only when I moved to Mumbai that I truly experienced the scale, warmth, and deep significance of this festival.”
Although her busy routine keeps her from hosting Bappa at home, Mansi finds ways to keep the festivities alive. “While I haven’t brought Bappa home after marriage—mainly because it comes with immense responsibility and our demanding shoot schedules keep us away for long hours—I make it a point to celebrate in spirit,” she shares. “I ensure I visit every friend and family member who invites me over. For me, this festival has become a beautiful reason to slow down, reconnect, and spend quality time with my loved ones.”
In her journey as an actor, Mansi has often leaned on divine strength during uncertain times. “Faith has always been a guiding light in my life. Last year, I didn’t visit anyone for Ganesh Chaturthi because I had a quiet mannat in my heart—I was praying for good work and a meaningful project,” she reveals. “Bappa truly heard my request and blessed me with a wonderful show soon after. Between Bappa’s blessings and my mother’s constant prayers for me, I have always felt supported. God has truly been on my side through every phase of my career.”
The bustling energy of Mumbai’s street celebrations has also offered her a unique perspective on community and harmony. “Whenever I’ve joined my friends for a visarjan procession, I’ve been amazed by the unity and spirit of Mumbai. People from all walks of life and every religion come together to celebrate with incredible passion,” Mansi notes. “It’s also inspiring to see how seamlessly the city manages the massive crowds—the Mumbai Police handle the traffic and safety so commendably. It teaches you how harmony, respect, and collective joy can bring a massive city together.”
For Mansi, the essence of the festival extends far beyond grand pandals and vibrant processions. “Beyond the festivities, Ganesh Chaturthi is about unwavering faith and the reassurance that obstacles will be cleared. Knowing that Bappa is watching over us gives me a sense of strength, like having a solid pillar of support behind you,” she reflects. “In a world full of unpredictability and challenges, having strong faith in God and holding empathy for each other is what keeps us moving forward.”
