Actress Smriti Khaannaa, who is currently seen in the micro-drama The Dog Date Mix Up and has been part of shows like Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyann, Niyati, and Santoshi Maa, has never hidden her love for reality television, admitting she’s often found it far more gripping than the daily soaps she’s known for. She says she isn’t afraid of a little drama and believes her naturally outspoken personality might just make her an unforgettable contestant.
She said, “Honestly, I have always been a huge fan of reality shows. In fact, there was a time when I enjoyed watching them more than daily soaps. They are unpredictable and entertaining and give audiences a chance to see the real person behind the characters.”
She also had no issue admitting that fame and money are part of the appeal, but not the only reason she’d sign up. She said, “And yes, they bring name, fame, and money, but what’s wrong with that? For me, the bigger attraction is the challenge and the opportunity to connect with audiences like me.”
When it comes to which show she’d actually want to be part of, her answer came without hesitation. She said, “Absolutely, Bigg Boss is definitely on my wish list. I would also love to be part of a format like Lock Upp.”
For her, the appeal lies in finally letting audiences see beyond the characters she’s played over the years. She said, “People have seen me play characters like Durga and Parvati, but they don’t really know who Smriti Khaannaa is. I think a show like Bigg Boss would be the perfect platform to show my real personality, the funny, emotional, outspoken, and opinionated sides of me. So yes, if Bigg Boss is reading this, I’m ready for the house.”
On the criticism that Bigg Boss turns personalities into pure spectacle, she believes that outcome has less to do with the show and more to do with the person inside it. She said, “I think it depends entirely on the person. The platform is the same, but how you behave is your choice.”
“If you love tamasha, people will see tamasha. But there have also been contestants who simply stayed true to themselves and won people’s hearts. You can’t play a character for months; eventually, the real you comes out,” she ended.
