Guru Nanak Jayanti or Gurpurab is considered as one of the most sacred festivals for the Sikhs. It is the day that celebrates the birth of Guru Nanak, the first of the ten Sikh Gurus and one who shaped the beliefs of the community.

Sikhs all over the world celebrate this festival with lot of enthusiasm by remembering the philosophy of Guru Nanak. Various cultural activities and langar are organized at Gurdwaras.

Talking about this special day, &TV’s Love Me India judge Guru Randhawa shares his plans for Guru Nanak Jayanti.

Says Randhawa, “I am an extremely spiritual person and believe that whatever I have achieved is due to Guru Nanak ji’s blessings towards me. I can’t start my day without seeking his blessings and thanking him for this beautiful life and the success I have received. This is a habit that my parents inculcated in me at a very young age and I continue to follow it even today. Sometimes, when I find myself feeling overwhelmed during shoots or concerts, I take a minute to remember how blessed I have been and immediately I feel a sense of positivity prevailing within me.”

He further adds, “I remember the time when I had decided to take the path of being a singer; my parents would keep telling me to just have faith in God’s bigger plans, and that success would eventually find a way in my life. I am grateful to them for creating this faith and belief within me. While I have no special preparations for Guru Nanak Jayanti, like every day I am going to remember him and quietly thank him for fulfilling all my wishes.”

Way to go, Randhawa!!
