There is an old saying that nothing is sweeter than a mother’s love—unless, of course, you are talking about a hidden bar of rich, velvety dark chocolate tucked away in the back of the refrigerator. For chocolate lovers around the world, that sweet, instantaneous rush of joy is a feeling like no other. It is a universal language of happiness, a comforting treat, and sometimes, the perfect excuse for a little harmless kitchen espionage.

On the occasion of World Chocolate Day, actor Athar Khan, who brings the righteous character of Yudhishtir to life in Sony SAB’s Hastinapur Ke Veer, opened up about his deep, unapologetic love for chocolates. While his on-screen persona is known for strict adherence to duty and rules, off-screen, Athar confesses he cannot help but break a few house rules when it comes to his favourite sweet treat.

Reflecting on his ultimate guilty pleasure, Athar shared, “I really love chocolates because they instantly make me happy! Dark chocolate is my favourite. My mom won’t let me eat chocolate every day, so I sometimes sneak a few from the fridge when she’s not around.”

Like any true chocolate enthusiast, Athar devised what he thought was the perfect stealth mission. Unfortunately for the young actor, a mother’s intuition proves to be far more powerful than any stealthy manoeuvre. “I always think she won’t notice, but somehow my mom always knows! I still get caught almost every time, and then she reminds me that too much chocolate isn’t good for me,” he added with a laugh.

Athar admits that the thrill of the chase makes the reward taste even sweeter. “But I guess that’s part of the fun! Wishing everyone a very Happy Chocolate Day!”
