Young and talented actress Debattama Saha, who was last seen in Ishaaron Ishaaron Mein, is currently playing the lead girl Anokhi Bhalla in Star Plus new show ‘Shaurya Aur Anokhi Ki Kahani’.
Set up in Punjab, the show focuses on the story of an ordinary girl with big dreams who faces various challenges in the dominant patriarchal and chauvinistic society.
Talking about her character, she says, “I opted for this show as the character that I am portraying Anokhi is a strong role. This girl is mature, strong. She is an ordinary girl but she has big dreams. She has various challenges in the dominant patriarchal society, however, she wants to fight them all and achieve her goals. I am an amiable kind of a girl, but Anokhi is an introvert. I love the Punjabi language but I had to work on the dialect. I had to prepare for my role. I hope viewers will connect with my character in the show and continue to shower me with their love as I embark on this new journey as Anokhi.”
Debattama feels her show will be an eye-opener for many people. She comments, “The show is realistic and that makes it unique from others. We have often seen patriarchal and chauvinistic society dominate women but Anokhi will change the mindset and attitude of society towards girls. I am sure my character will inspire women and girls to go out and fulfill their dreams.”
Commenting on her struggle period, she adds, “My father is a very supportive person but in my initial stage of career, he was scared. But now he is very supportive.”
