Actress Saniya Khera, who has been part of shows like Junooniyatt, Tose Naina Milaike, Mann Atisundar and Prem Leela, is currently winning attention for her performance as the negative lead in the Star Plus show Shehzadi Hai Tu Dil Ki. Known for choosing roles that challenge her as an actor, Saniya says her latest character, Kanika, stood out because of its emotional depth and strength.
Talking about her decision to take up a negative role, Saniya says, “What attracted me to Shehzadi Hai Tu Dil Ki was the depth of the character. She is strong and layered, and not negative just for the sake of drama. She has her own logic, emotions, and vulnerabilities, which makes her a very exciting role to play.” She adds that such characters help her push her boundaries and explore new dimensions of her craft as an actor.
As Christmas approaches, Saniya is soaking in the festive mood while balancing work commitments. When asked about her favourite Christmas movie, she smiles and says, “My favourite Christmas movie is Love Actually. I really love this film because it shows so many different kinds of love, most simply and beautifully. It makes me smile, feel emotional, and reminds me that love is everywhere, especially during Christmas.”
Christmas holds a special place in Saniya’s heart, and she follows a tradition that she cherishes deeply. “Every year on Christmas, I go to Mount Mary Church, and it has become a very special ritual for me. I absolutely love Bandra during Christmas. The lights, the vibe, and the happiness around make it feel like heaven. This year too, I will follow the same ritual,” she says. If she is not shooting, the actress plans to spend quality time with her friends and fully enjoy the festive atmosphere. She adds with a laugh that Christmas is incomplete without good food, especially plum cake, which she truly loves.
Sharing her wish list for Santa this year, Saniya keeps it simple yet heartfelt. “I wish for good work and lots and lots of work. I also pray for good health and happiness for my family, friends, and everyone close to my heart,” she says.
