As the festive season lights up television screens and homes alike, audiences are captivated by the charm and vibrant energy of Akshita Mudgal, who plays the lead role of Radhika in Zee TV’s popular show Lakshmi Niwas (produced by Rashmi Sharma Telefilms). Known for her effortless acting chops and magnetic screen presence, Akshita brings the same warmth, dedication, and lively spirit off-screen as she embraces the joyous celebrations of Navratri. In a heartfelt conversation, she opens up about her passion for dance, balancing a demanding shooting schedule with festive traditions, and welcoming the season with a heart full of gratitude.
As a trained professional dancer, Akshita brings an innate sense of rhythm and fluidity to everything she does. Talking about her Garba playing accuracy, she says, “I’m a professional dancer, so even though I may not know all the traditional Garba steps, I can definitely pick them up! Dance comes naturally to me, so I think I can manage Garba pretty well too.”
For Akshita, the essence of festive joy isn’t about heavy, restrictive outfits—it is about feeling free. “I like to keep it simple and comfortable. I believe that when you’re dancing, you should be in your comfort zone and be able to enjoy yourself without worrying too much about your outfit,” she says.
Navratri brings with it an incredible wave of vibrant melodies every single year, making it impossible for a true music and dance lover like Akshita to pin down just one favourite track. “Honestly, every year we get such amazing Garba songs, and I love dancing to them all! So, I don’t think I have just one favourite.”
While spiritual devotion is close to her heart, Akshita balances her fasting traditions with the demanding, high-energy requirements of her shooting schedules. She quips, “I do observe fasts, and whenever I’m not shooting, I try to fast during Navratri. But with our hectic shooting schedules, my parents also prefer that I don’t fast because we have to work long hours, stay energetic, and sometimes take medications on time. So, it really depends on my schedule that year.”
When it comes to choosing a partner for Garba, she says, “I would pick someone really good at Garba so they can teach me a few steps along the way!”
Summing up her beautiful journey this festive season, Akshita reflects on a year filled with hard work, saying, “This year has been all about working hard, creating beautiful memories, growing as a person, and celebrating every little moment along the way. I’d say I’m stepping into Navratri with a heart full of gratitude and lots of positive energy!”
