Dalljiet Kaur, who began her second innings on TV with a negative role in Star Plus fantasy show, Qayamat Ki Raat, is all set to return to the family drama lead bracket with popular Zee TV show, Guddan – Tumse Na Ho Payega.

“I am playing Antara, comatose wife of lead, Akshat (Nishant Malkani), who regains consciousness after a long time. Akhshat had loved her dearly and it had taken him a long time to accept that his wife is not coming back. Just when he is deciding to start life afresh with Guddan (Kanika Mann, I return. So expect a powerful love triangle, with all the twists and turns.”

“It is a lovely character of a loving wife who defies odds to come back to her husband and home. She was never shown but was always referred to,” says Dalljiet, who started her lead career with Kulvaddhu, back in 2006. Her other well-known shows have been Chhoona Hai Aasmaan, Santaan, etc.

Here Daljeet says, “It was not easy to enter a running show. Till now, I have always been part of projects from the start, but thankfully, here the entire crew has accepted me with open arms. It naturally takes time to remember who is who, but they all are very understanding.”

Talking about her second innings, (she had taken a break after Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon had wrapped up in 2012), Dalljiet says, “I am very grateful to Ekta Mam (Ekta Kapoor) for having given me a chance to return to TV again as a 25-year-old in Qayamat Ki Raat, something that never happens normally. And more importantly in a negative role, which convinced the world that I can do varied stuff as well.”

“The best part is that today my efforts and hard work are being appreciated. I am being specifically called for performance-oriented roles. Since the producer of Guddan, Ved Prakash, had also written Iss Pyaar Ko Kya, which incidentally is one of my best shows till date, he was confident that I would be able to do justice to the varied layers of Antara.”

What’s next? “Besides Guddan, I am doing an interesting character in upcoming Alt Balaji web series, Boss – Baap of Special Services, starring Karan Singh Grover.”

“Karan is a sweetheart. I genuinely regard him as one of my better male co-actors around. I love his promptness as an artist. I have always wanted to work with him. I will talk more about that show when its promotions start.”
