Raj Anadkat’s portrayal of Pawan Parik in Sony SAB’s newly launched show Kyunki Papa Kehte Hain is closely connected to the character’s relationship with his late father and the values he leaves behind. Produced by Yash and Mamta Patnaik’s Inspire Films, the show explores the bond between five siblings and their journey of holding the family together after their parents’ death.
For Raj, the emotional core of Pawan’s character comes from the lessons passed down by his father. “His father is no longer with him, but the things he taught them and the values he instilled in them are still with them. After his passing, all the responsibility of the house falls on Pawan,” the actor says.
Raj reveals that some of his own experiences with his father helped him connect with the emotional scenes in the show. “There is a situation where Kaka says a lot of things about Pawan’s father, and I was literally crying during that scene. I have learned so many things from my father that I also implement in my real life.”
Speaking about one of the most important lessons he has carried from his father, Raj says, “In real life too, my father always says that whenever you face a problem, you should solve it calmly without becoming too hyper. Just calm yourself first, and then you will find a solution.”
Interestingly, Raj feels that this philosophy also reflects Pawan’s journey. The character is constantly faced with situations where he has to make decisions, solve his siblings’ problems and keep the family together, even while dealing with his own challenges.
The actor also opens up about his childhood and his bond with his father. “Whenever I faced difficulties, challenges or heartbreaks as a child, I would go to my father. He would laugh, and the more I spoke, the more he would laugh. Eventually, I would get tired, but later I understood why he used to do that.”
For Raj, the show therefore goes beyond being a family comedy. “I think it is a great learning from a father. I believe every father leaves their children with some lessons,” he says.
Through Pawan, Raj gets an opportunity to explore the emotional impact of a parent’s teachings and how those values continue to guide children even when their parents are no longer around. At the same time, the show balances these emotional moments with humour and the everyday chaos of sibling relationships.
