This is the first time I will play a submissive character: Pooja Banerjee

Pooja Banerjee is happy and excited at the way the year has panned out for her with the success of her ALTBalaji web-series, Kehne Ko Humsafar Hai and her to-come outing with Balaji Telefilms, Dil Hi Toh Hai on Sony TV and ALTBalaji.

Says Pooja, “Yes, this has been a good year for me. Kehne Ko Humsafar Hain gave me a lot of good responses and I now look forward to Dil Hi toh Hai.”

Talking about the Sony TV show, wherein she is paired opposite Karan Kundra, she says, “This is the first time I will be playing a submissive character. Lot of people have told me that my body language is of a strong person. So that persona stays with me on-screen. The only time when I feel helpless is when I am trying to convince my father (smiles). So as Aarohi, I am trying something really different.”

Pooja has had a powerful role and good screen space in Kehne Ko Humsafar Hai, which has gone on to become a huge hit. The series has Ronit Roy, Mona Singh, Gurdeep Kohli in lead roles.

On the response got, Pooja shares, “Bani was a very nice character to portray. In fact, I will say that there are lots of people who have made the transition from TV to the web space. I have had people from the middle age – housewives, chachis, buas etc sending me appreciation. It is good to know of people making an effort to watch the series. This is certainly a shift and as actors, we cannot ask for more.”

Ask her about her future and she avers, “I will solely be shofting base from TV to web. But that does not mean I am not open to TV offers. Honestly, I am getting a lot of variations and shades to play on the web space. And I am at an age where I don’t mind experimenting.”

On her thoughts about playing bold roles on the web, she states, “I am pretty much open to doing it. I have played meaty roles in Chandran Nandni, and in Swim Team too. I have done meaty roles, but none of them have been vulgar. I can go bold, but nothing that is vulgar.”

Way to go, Pooja!!
