For actor Sehaj Rajput, the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi has always been a harbinger of good fortune and positive transformations. She has bagged her new show, Hui Gumm Yaadein, on Sony SAB around the same time!! Reflecting on the auspicious occasion, Sehaj shares how the festival holds a deeply personal significance in her life, marking major career milestones and cherished moments of calm amid the hustle of Mumbai.
“I have a lot of wonderful memories attached to Ganesh Chaturthi. Every year around this time, something truly positive happens in my life—in fact, I first moved to Mumbai around this festival four years ago, and I even landed my previous show, Jaane Anjaane Hum Mile, during this time. Coming from outside Mumbai, the city’s fast pace can sometimes feel overwhelming, but visiting friends and family to welcome Bappa brings a profound sense of calm and peace. I am incredibly excited for this next chapter and hope for the very best for Team Yaadein.”
Joining the cast of Sony SAB’s Hui Gumm Yaadein post-leap, Sehaj has stepped into the shoes of Gia. Taking on an ongoing character brought its initial set of nerves, but gaining a deep understanding of Gia’s backstory helped her connect with the role on an emotional level. “Taking over an established character like Gia was definitely nerve-wracking at first because the audience already has a bond with her, and I wanted to ensure I did full justice to the role. As I dove deeper into her backstory, I realised Gia is a remarkably balanced yet complex person. Having faced immense hardship at a young age—with her parents’ separation and the loss of her brother—she dedicated herself entirely to bringing her family back together, often putting her own needs aside. Malhar’s entry into her life serves as a true ray of hope for her.”
Beyond the screen, the transition into the show has been seamless thanks to the warm reception from her co-stars. Sehaj credits the welcoming environment created by senior cast members for making her feel right at home on set. “Working alongside Iqbal Sir and Gulki Ma’am has been an absolute delight. Gulki Ma’am in particular made me feel so welcome with amazing food right from day one. Creating these special memories on set makes stepping into this new role even more rewarding.”
Here’s wishing everyone a very Happy Ganesh Chaturthi!!
