I got more love and recognition for my negative Beyhadh avatar than any positive role: Piyush Sahdev

Piyush Sahdev, who is currently doing a negative cameo in Zee TV’s super-successful show, Ishq Subhan Allah, is on the verge of signing something big. “I can’t reveal much, but there is something on the anvil; do watch out for it.”

Talking about his current show, he says, “This is my first cameo, but I said yes, for the character has meat. I really liked the Kashmir setting. Siraj Ahmed is someone who is used to getting his way, hence turns negative when Zara (Eisha Singh) spurns him.”

Piyush, who had earlier impressed one and all with his negative role in Beyhadh says, “I have no particular love for any genre; I want to try my hand at everything. Coming to negative, you get a lot to do. I try to understand where my character comes from, as mentioned above.”

“Also, I am lucky to have come at a time when audiences are appreciative of good acting, just as in the West, where protagonists and antagonists, both are hailed. I got lots of love and appreciation for my Beyhadh stint, maybe more than any positive avatar.” He has played leads in Meet Mila De Rabba, Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke, as well.

Besides TV, Piyush is game for doing web series, “However, I am not very gung-ho about the format, for it seems to thrive on sex and abuse, but you don’t need these elements; a lot can be said with creativity as well.”

“Having said that, not all stuff is bad, like I would have been a part of hit ALTBalaji show, Kehne Ko Humsafar Hain, but could not do it due to some mess.”

He was arrested on rape charges, and subsequently released on bail. He has been lucky that the industry has accepted him. “My efforts and talent are being noticed, I am thankful for that.”

Regarding Ishq Subhan Allah’s feedback, he said, “It has been a mixed bag, some people don’t like me for coming between the lad and his girl, while others want me to stay on. For us, fans are our final arbitrators, hence I take whatever they say– positive or negative– in my stride, and try to improve myself.”

Way to go, Piyush!!
